Project Overview
The Product
This product serves as a sales management app for small business owners / online sellers to gather information about their drone deliveries to share with customers.
Project Duration
3 Weeks | July 28th - August 16th
The User Problem
Many online sellers rely on third party shipping companies like UPS and FedEx but the communication from these services are minimal and often unhelpful when trying to pass on this information to your clients.
The Project Goal
My goal was to offer reliable, accurate, and important information regarding the delivery of a product to the online seller so that they don’t need to stress over the unknown and instead can focus on their craft.
My Role
In this project I wore many hats by taking on roles such as UX Researcher, UX Interaction Designer, UX Visual Designer, etc.
Responsibilities
User research, wire-framing, prototyping, iterating, visual design, etc.

User Research Overview
My user research mainly including learning from different online sellers, specifically people that sell custom art and products. A large reason they want to sell these products isn’t to start a business but instead share their craft with the world. I saw this as an opportunity to give online sellers the business help they need so that they can focus on what matters to them.
User Pain Points
1. Lack of Shipping Info

Online sellers put their trust into delivery companies such as UPS, Canada Post, FedEx, etc. Although at that point when a customer has shipping concerns, the business owner knows very little because the relevant information is not available to them.
2. Delays & Arrival Time

Delivery systems today update tracking info based on when it arrives to the next warehouse. This means businesses have no clue where it is in between each warehouse.
3. Distrust

Whenever there is a problem with these third party delivery systems, usually the seller gets the blame, especially when the important information isn’t being shared with the customers or when the information is not accurate.
4. Business Tasks

Another pain point which I alluded to in my research summary is that not everyone wants to be a business owner. They want a simple way to share their products without all the complex management needed.
User Persona

User Story
The main thing here is that she doesn’t have access to certain shipping information to pass on to her clients. Since Etsy hands off their shipping to UPS or Canada Post, there isn’t much Klaudia can tell her clients when they complain.
"As an online freelancer selling my custom made products I want to meet customer needs without needing to figure out shipping details that aren’t even available to me so that I can focus on my craft and make my job less stressful"
Problem Statement
Klaudia is an online freelancer selling custom products who needs accurate and helpful information about her supply chain because she rather focus on her craft than figuring out issues with her shipping.
Competitive Audit

Goal Statement
Our drone logistics app will let users track and manage aerial deliveries which will affect business owners by facilitating the availability of delivery insights.
We will measure effectiveness by offering 5+ features that users can benefit from.

Paper Wireframes

The paper wireframe process was great for getting multiple ideas down without needing to think too hard. I was able to find certain elements from multiple frames that I liked and wanted to bring together.
Digital Wireframes

When creating my digital wireframes I made sure to organize my information using proximity and shared space so that users can easily identify what each section means.
Since this is one of the more important pages I wanted to organize information that is relevant for the customer and user. Using sections with iconography and large text will make the sharing process faster and easier to navigate.

Mockups

The graph was proven to be confusing for most people and didn’t clearly depict performance. To change this I put the two bars side by side instead of on top of eachother. This made it easier to see the differences in each month.

Many users would arrive to this page then leave without knowing that Drone Delivery was the button to go to. I made changes to clearly indicate where to go by using the colour blue sparingly and also giving the option to notify straight from the manage page.

Takeaways
Impact
I believe this app could be very beneficial, for example one of the family members of a usability study participant has their own online selling business where she delivers via Canada Post. Hearing first hand how this app could simplify many of her stressful processes has aided me in understanding the weight these products can have.
What I learned
I learned a ton about the entire design process from research, iterating, empathizing, research, usability, how cross-functional teams operate, design sprints, visual elements, and much more.
Next Steps
1.

The next steps I would take in this project would be to add another section to Business Tools that is simply just a table with relevant information. Graphs are useful but sometimes users just want to see the hard numbers and data so giving them that option would benefit the experience.
2.

Then I would most likely improve the message section as there is currently no way to distinguish inbox and compose a message.
3.

Finally I would want to make pages for the buttons on Settings and Profile page.
